Overview

El Cavino del Eclipse will take us on part of the Camino del Norte, a spectacular hiking route along Spain’s Cantabrian Coast.
We’ll enjoy awesome views of the Cantabrian Sea on our right and the stunning mountain ranges of northern Spain on our left, as we discover the wealth of culture in Spain’s coastal regions.
The format of El Cavino del Eclipse is similar to the other El Cavino trips: morning hikes through spectacular scenery, top-rate hotels, winery tours, fantastic lunches, great wining and dining, and stunning experiences travelling through the north of Spain.
But this trip includes something unique:
On Wednesday 12 August 2026, we’ll experience a magical moment as we observe the solar ECLIPSE from one of the best places in Cantabria.
On this day of El Cavino del Eclipse, against a backdrop of nature, vineyards and the sea, the sky will briefly go dark, treating us to an unforgettable cosmic show. In this magnificent setting, the experience will connect our pilgrim souls with the universe in a harmonious fusion of light and wine. We’ll take a moment to raise a glass and see the sky like never before.
NOTE
You’ll need to be in good shape for the steep ascents and descents on this walk. You can see the profile in the WALKS section, but the guide will explain the difficulties of each walk as we go.
Don’t worry if you’re not feeling fit enough for some of the walks: everything’s organised so you can enjoy the trip just as much by travelling on the El Cavino bus.

BODEGA TXAKOLI REZABAL (DO Getariako Txakolina)
Bodega Txakolí Rezabal is in Zarautz, and belongs to the Getariako Txakolina Denomination of Origin. The winery uses cutting-edge technology alongside more traditional methods. Centuries-old traditions maintain the characteristics of the wine, while technology is used to ensure quality and extract the riches of exceptional grapes that have endured over time.
On the best slopes of Zarautz, Getaria and Aia, caressed by the sea breeze, the vineyards are bathed by the salt air and nourished by humid, fertile soil, source of the quality and uniqueness of the winery’s Txakolis.
Bodega Txakoli Rezabal is an exceptional place to discover the increasingly popular Txakoli wine.

BODEGA BERROJA (DO Bizkaiko Txakolina)
This family winery is in Muxika, in the middle of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.
The vines grow on 24 hectares at a mean altitude of 250 m above sea level, a vantage point with outstanding views of the unique, spectacular natural space of the Biosphere Reserve.
Bodega Berroja is committed to searching for new flavours provided by this distinct, unique location, working on the foundations of SUSTAINABILITY AND UNIQUENESS.
We’ll savour the taste and aroma of their Txakolis and the terroir, delighting in the surroundings and the picture-perfect scenery.

BODEGA BAHÍA DE SANTANDER (Vino de la Tierra de la Costa de Cantabria) – Major ECLIPSE event
This winery was born out of love and passion for the place where it was built. Conceived out of heart-felt love for this part of Cantabria, the winery is named after the Bay of Santander in tribute to the impressive sea views in the area. The beauty and essence of this unique place are captured in every bottle.
Inspired by the region’s beauty and winemaking potential, the founding team searched for the best grape-growing soil in Cantabria. Their vision and determination led to the discovery of the perfect spot in Vista Alegre, where the permeable soil and gentle gradient provide ideal conditions.
The soil horizons of the property are ideal for grape growing, with a fertile layer rich in organic matter followed by a layer of clean sand on a bed of sandstone. This structure ensures a constant supply of water for the vine roots so the plants are never water stressed and can reach their full potential.
Thanks to this combination of love, dedication and an outstanding natural environment, each bottle of wine (e.g., the winery’s Santa Marina) showcases the story and the soul of Bodega Bahía de Santander, providing a unique experience that celebrates the beauty and riches of the terroir and the vision of the winery’s founders.

CASA TRABANCO CIDER MILL
It’s time to introduce our palates to a new experience: cider.
Asturias has always been synonymous with cider. There’d be no Asturias without cider, and no cider without Asturias. Apples and cider have shaped the customs of this Spanish province for hundreds of years.
Casa Trabanco opened in 1983, in a natural setting near the city of Gijón. It provides a genuine Asturian cider and dining experience in a place where you’ll feel right at home.
Lunch and traditional cider pouring at the cider mill.

MEGA – MUNDO ESTRELLA GALICIA
Our final tour takes us to yet another realm: Mundo Estrella Galicia, a “place of pilgrimage” for beer lovers.
On a journey through time, from prehistory to the present, we’ll discover the technical innovations that have enabled us to enjoy beer as we know it today.
“Since 1906, we’ve been driven by a love of beer.
Our passion led us to create MEGA, at our own working factory.
Spain’s only beer museum is a tribute to our family, a place to share knowledge, full of innovation, culture, experiences… it’s also our particular stand against beer blandness”.
